Tweak utlity fuel tank selector B737 Zibo conflict?

Beitrag von davidal » Fr 24. Aug 2018, 16:10

Hi,
I just started using your tweak utility. It really helps a lot.
However, I am encountering some problems with the B737 Zibo mod. It does not matter what fuel tank I select, it always consumes the left tank.
Could that be related to youe tweak utility? Fuel tank selector is off in your panel.
Thanks for your help,
Rgds,
Daniel

There was a bug in the fuel tank selector that should be fixed with the latest version. The bug resultet in the selector being always on and I think for the 737 the selector makes no sense so I suggest downloading the latest version and setting the selector to off. This should work now (at least it did in my latest Tests).

If you want to use the selector in the zibo I think I could create an exception (invert the tanks for the selector) for it but I need to know it's acf file name. The Default 737-800 is named 'b738.acf' but I don't know if the zibo changes the acf name. Could you please check in the zibo aircraft folder if the acf is named 'b738.acf'?

Thanks for yourt quick reply.
I will download the latest version and I will check it.
In reply to your question, I checked the B737 Zibo folder and the acf files there is named b738.acf

Well... as I did a test in the Default b738 the fuel tank selector did nothing there even when set to on (as intended). As the b738 has two engines each connected to one of the fuel tanks I think the selector is not useful here as there is no need for an automatic switch. The selector is intended to be used on aircraft like a piper cherokee for example, having two tanks but no 'both' position for it's native tank selector lever.

I can confirm, the Zibo Mod has a problem when using Tweak Utility.
I've set the fuel selector to off. When having the Tweak Utility activated only the left fuel tank is used and you soon get fuel imbalance. So you always have to fly with cross feed valve open.
When I remove the Tweak Utility, it's working normally.

I like your Tweak utility, so I removed the fuel related code below the "-- Fuel Tank Selector" part
in the lua file, and it's working fine again.

These are my prefs:

Code: Alles auswählen

min_fps = 30
max_fps = 40
drop_fps = 30
preset =  0
fps_drop_compensation =  1
auto_lod_on =  1
tweak_lod =  2
lod_rating = '+'
fuel_tank_selector =  0
selector_status = 'Fuel Tank Selector Off'
auto_baro_gyro =  0
baro_gyro_status = 'Auto Baro + Gyro Off'
remove_cars =  0
cars_status = 'Road Traffic Default'
tweak_cars1 =  2
tweak_cars2 =  0
tweak_cars3 = 20000
remove_water_effects =  0
water_status = 'Water Effects On'
tweak_water1 =  1
faster_clouds =  1
clouds_status = 'Faster Clouds On'
tweak_clouds1 =  3
tweak_clouds2 =  1
tweak_water2 =  1
watref_value =  1
watref_rating = '+'
fog_rating = '++++'
set_fog =  1
fog_value =  1
fairings_p2002[2] =  0
weight_balance_status = 'X-Plane Weight & Balance'
info_pos_y =  0
show_main_menu =  0
show_menu_helper =  0
menu_helper_status = 'Menu Helper Off'
fps_display_status = 'On'
overall_status =  0
overall_status_persist =  0

Well... as with the latest Utility version, the fuel tank selector really is inactive when set to off so it does nothing. Maybe you are still using the older version?

If, for any reason, it does not work with the current version when selector is off, just look for

do_often("switch_tanks()")

in the code and change it into

--do_often("switch_tanks()")

After that, the selector logic is always off, even when set to on.

These are my prefs:

[...]
weight_balance_status = 'X-Plane Weight & Balance'
[...]

I did some more tests and then remembered your state save code and found the line quoted above. The current version of the utility does not name default weight and balance "X-Plane Weight & Balance" but just "Weight & Balance" so I think you are still using the older version with the always on fuel tank selector bug.

As I could not reproduce the selector bug in any aicraft I am interested to know if the problem is still there using the current utility version with the zibo 738. The selector should not have any effect to any aircraft when set to off and even if it is set to on it should only have an effect if an aicraft is setup to use just the left or the right tank. For example, if you fly the C172 with fuel tank lever in 'both' position the selector does not switch tanks even if it's activated. In all my tests the selector was inactive when set to off.

Hi sleepy_t

Same situation here. Upgrading to the last version of the Tweak utility does not help.

What specific lines did you delete from the LUA code? After deleting the lines, should I just save the file?

Thanks,

Daniel

I've also tried with the latest version from end of August yesterday, I still get fuel imbalances.

I will try with Flyagi's change advice

Just change line 1126 from
do_often("switch_tanks()")
to
-- do_often("switch_tanks()")

I think I could solve the issue. This was a bit harder than expected because of some weird behaviour of the 738 (not only the zibo) if a script just references the fuel tank DataRefs. Please download the newly uploaded utility and report back if it works now (for me it did).
